Centralized hub with AWS Empowering storage solutions

V Retail Pvt. Ltd. is a leading fashion and footwear brand having its stores spread across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. They were looking for a reliable partner who can provide an efficient auto backup solution for their crucial data. PruTech suggested Amazon Web Services to the client to migrate their legacy data from on-premises to AWS for their 30 stores across India.

V Retail has 30 different stores in India. Each store data was maintained independently and there was no centralized repository. This led to data sorting and visibility issues causing delay in business continuity and implementing business decisions quickly.

V Retail was exploring and contemplating amongst some of the cloud market players. PruTech proposed AWS services for centralized data repository. We moved the client data to Amazon Simple Storage Service – a cloud storage service by Amazon that provides scalability, data availability, security, and performance. We have implemented a cost-effective auto backup system for all 30 stores to cloud via our internal scripts.

AWS Services deployed to achieve performance:

• Amazon S3 or Amazon Simple Storage service was used to provide access to reliable and cost-effective data storage infrastructure.
• By implementing the Amazon S3 service, users can effortlessly access storage classes that are cost-effective and benefit from user-friendly management features. Additionally, it allows for the configuration of finely tuned access controls to meet specific requirements of businesses, organizations, and compliance standards.
• Amazon S3 service offers a professional and efficient solution for storage needs, ensuring seamless accessibility and optimal data management. It allows quick data recovery in case of application or system failures.
• Amazon EC2 was used to provide scalability and eliminate the need to invest in new hardware. It allows you to configure security and manage networking. It is primarily useful to handle spikes in workload. It provides secure login information for the instances.
• AWS CLI (Command Line Interface) services were implemented to send large files to the cloud, control multiple AWS services and automate them through scripts.
• VPC provides a customized and secure virtual network to access on-prem and cloud resources. It enables users to leverage the scalable infrastructure in the cloud.
• Amazon GuardDuty services were implemented for threat detection and continuous monitoring of AWS accounts and workloads to detect malicious activity.
• Amazon Inspector service was effectively implemented to check network reachability issues and for identifying vulnerabilities in the software.
• The Multi-factor authentication service allowed secure cloud access.
• The security posture of the applications hosted on the cloud was ensured by using WAF, Macie, SNS, CloudTrail, and CloudWatch.
• WAF is an effective firewall service that enables security against common web exploits that consume excessive system resources and compromise security.
• CloudTrail and CloudWatch provide robust monitoring of account activity and allow users to have control over storage, analysis, and remediation actions. Logs, metrics, and event data are provided in real-time by CloudWatch through automated dashboards. It helps in the ease of streamlining infrastructure and application maintenance.

PruTech backed up the data of the 30 stores of the client to Amazon S3 through the implementation of the Amazon auto backup solution. We also implemented data backup and allowed synchronization between AWS and their desktop computers.
